Indian Media Published Special Page on Celebrating the 72nd Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China
2021/10/01

On October 1st, 2021, Indian mainstream media The Hindu and The Business Line published special page on celebrating the 72nd anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. The special page contained Chinese Ambassador H.E. Sun Weidong's National Day Message, China's Great Moments in This Year and Welcome to Beijing 2022 Olympic & Paralympic Winter Games.

I. Ambassador's Message

The year 2021 is special for the Chinese people. It marks the centenary of the Communist Party of China (CPC). On July 1st, President Xi Jinping solemnly declared that we have realized the first centenary goal of building a moderately prosperous society in all respects. We have brought about a historic resolution to the problem of absolute poverty in China. We are now marching in confident strides toward the second centenary goal of building China into a great modern socialist country in all respects.

The rejuvenation of the Chinese nation has been the greatest dream of the Chinese people since the beginning of modern times. The "Chinese Dream" proposed by President Xi Jinping is to make the country prosperous and strong, rejuvenate the nation, and see that the people are happy.

The Chinese Dream is the dream of both the country and the nation. The path of socialism with Chinese characteristics is the fundamental achievement of the CPC and Chinese people made through countless hardships at enormous cost. The Party and the Chinese people will keep moving confidently forward in broad strides along the path we have chosen, and we will make sure the destiny of China's development and progress firmly grasped in our own hands.

The Chinese dream is also the dream of all the Chinese people. We will continue to enhance people's sense of gains, happiness and security. The sense of gains means that people can truly enjoy the fruits of reform and development. The sense of happiness means that people have goals to strive for. People all enjoy opportunity to live a brilliant life and realize their dreams. The sense of security comes from sound social security system and good public security. We have established the world's largest social security system. Nearly 1 billion people are covered by basic old-age insurance and 1.36 billion people are covered by basic medical insurance.

In the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, we have always put people and life first. Through our enormous efforts, China has made a major strategic achievement in fighting the virus. We are willing to do whatever it takes to protect people's lives.

The Chinese dream is a dream of peace, development, cooperation and mutual benefit for all. China is committed to follow the path of peaceful development. We will never seek hegemony or expansion. We advocate peace, development, equity, justice, democracy and freedom, which are the common values of humanity. We promote the building of a new type of international relations and the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.

China has worked vigorously to promote common development. A few days ago, President Xi Jinping solemnly proposed the Global Development Initiative, called on the international community to accelerate implementation of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals for more robust, greener and more balanced global development.

China has actively promoted global solidarity in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic. China has provided 1.2 billion doses of finished and bulk vaccines to more than 100 countries and international organizations. China will strive to provide a total of 2 billion doses of vaccines to the world by the end of this year. In addition to donating $100 million to COVAX, China will donate another 100 million doses of vaccines to other developing countries in the course of this year.

China hopes to grow into a better country in the process of realizing the Chinese dream. We believe that the world will be a better place with China's development. At the same time, our firm resolve to safeguard sovereignty, security and development interests will remain steadfast.

China and India are the two largest developing countries and emerging economies in the world. If we live in harmony and join hands in cooperation, it will be of great significance to Asia and the globe.

China and India should stick to the right direction of the bilateral relations. We should view the bilateral ties from a historical and strategic perspective, and uphold the strategic consensus that China and India are opportunities of development and cooperation partners to each other instead of being threats or competitive rivals.

China and India should expand mutually beneficial cooperation. Despite the impact of the pandemic, our economic and trade cooperation has bucked the trend. In the first 8 months this year, bilateral trade reached $78.5 billion with a growth of about 52% year-on-year. As major Asian countries, China and India should work together with other countries in the region to promote Asian solidarity and cooperation.

China and India should properly handle differences. We should place the boundary question in an appropriate position in bilateral relations and seek a fair, reasonable and mutually acceptable solution through dialogue and consultations. Both sides need to meet each other halfway to move the situation towards stability and shift it from urgent dispute settlement to regular management and control, so as to jointly safeguard the peace and tranquility in the border area.

China and India should strengthen the foundation of people-to-people friendship. We need to tap our potentials and create innovative formats to advance communications in areas such as culture, education, think-tanks and media. Let us join hands to bring China-India relationship back on the track of healthy and stable development, in order to benefit the two countries and the two peoples.

II. China's Great Moments in This Year

First centenary goal achieved

On July 1, 2021, at a ceremony marking the centenary of the CPC, President Xi Jinping solemnly declared China had realized the first centenary goal of building a moderately prosperous society in all respects!

Farewell to absolute poverty

On February 25, 2021, President Xi Jinping solemnly declared that China has secured a complete victory in the battle against extreme poverty, eliminating overall and extreme poverty for the first time in its history of thousands of years, and realizing a century-long aspiration of the Chinese people.

Return in glory

China ranked second in the medal count with 38 golds, 32 silvers and 18 bronze medals at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, and won 96 gold, 60 silver and 51 bronze medals at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, topping the medal table for the 5th Paralympic Games in a row.

Hi-tech breakthroughs

Having worked in Tianhe, China's own space station core module for three months -- the longest-ever human space mission in Chinese history, three astronauts of the Shenzhou-12 crew returned home on Sept. 17, 2021.

China's first Mars rover, Zhurong, drove down from its landing platform to the Martian surface, leaving the country's first "footprints" on the red planet.

Chang'e-5 mission has achieved the extraterrestrial sampling and returning for the first time, marking a great step forward in China's space industry.

China's vaccines contributions

President Xi Jinping stressed that committed to building a global community of health for all, China is providing vaccines to the world. In the course of this year, China will strive to provide 2 billion doses of vaccines to the world. China has decided to donate US$100 million to the COVAX Facility for distributing vaccines to developing countries.

Leap across the millennium

Since the peaceful liberation in 1951, the Tibet autonomous region has achieved a historic leap from a system of feudal serfdom to socialism. With equal rights to development, people of all ethnic groups in Tibet forged ahead in unity with the rest of the Chinese nation toward common prosperity. Seventy years on, the age-old Tibetan plateau takes on a new look and presents itself proudly to the world.

III. Welcome to Beijing 2022 Olympic

& Paralympic Winter Games

Having won the bid for the 2022 Olympic Winter Games on 31 July 2015, Beijing has become the first city in the world to have hosted both the summer and winter editions of the Olympic Games.

With a vision of "Joyful Rendezvous upon Pure Ice and Snow," Beijing 2022 will build on the legacies of the landmark Beijing 2008 Olympic Games and expects to encourage millions of people across China to embrace winter sports.

The 109 events in seven Olympic winter sports will be held from February 4 to 20, 78 events across six Paralympics winter sports will be held from March 4 to 13. These events will be held in the three competition zones of central Beijing, Yanqing and Zhangjiakou.
