Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi Meets with Indian Prime Minister's Special Envoy & National Security Advisor Menon

On July 4, 2010, Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi met in the Foreign Ministry with Indian Prime Minister's Special Envoy & National Security Advisor Shiv Shankar Menon.

Yang said that with the joint efforts of both sides, China-India relations have shown a sound momentum of all-round and rapid development in recent years. As this year marked the 60th anniversary of the Sino-Indian diplomatic ties, China was ready to take the opportunity to work with India to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, deepen mutual political trust, promote exchanges and cooperation in all areas, and enhance communication on major regional and international issues, Yang said. He noted China was willing to make concerted efforts with India to inject vitality and impetus to the development of ties.

Menon spoke highly of the achievements made in bilateral ties, noting the Indian government attached great importance to developing relations with China. Menon said India was ready to work with China to consolidate and keep closer bilateral ties and intensify coordination on international and regional issues, so as to advance the India-China strategic partnership of cooperation.
