Ambassador Sun Yuxi meets with India Media Delegation to Tibet and Tibetan Regions in China

On July 29, 2006, H.E. Mr. Sun Yuxi, Ambassador of China to India, met with India Media Delegation to Tibet and Tibetan Regions in China, at the invitation of the State Council of Information of P.R. China.

Ambassador Sun briefly introduced the current Sino-Indian relations, great significance of the reopening of Nathu-la Pass for trade between China and India, and recent economic and social developments of Tibet Autonomous Region. Ambassador Sun also elaborated the Chinese government's principled positions on the issue of Dalai Lama, Taiwan and the so-called "high-level autonomy" or "real autonomy" in Tibet, put forward by the delegation members.

Finally, Ambassador Sun sincerely wished that the delegation could have a success trip to China.

The delegation members include senior editors and journalists from six Indian mainstream media of Deccan Herald, Daily News & Analysis, The Asian Age, The Pioneer, The Times of India, NDTV. They will visit Lanzhou, Gannan Tibetan Prefecture of Gansu Province, Lhasa, capital of the Tibet Autonomous Region, and Beijing from July 31 to August 13.
