Ambassador Sun Donates to Rajiv Gandhi Foundation on Behalf of China Charity Foundation

To show the friendly sentiments of the Chinese people towards the Indian people, Mr. Sun Yuxi, Chinese Ambassador to India, on behalf of China Charity Foundation, donated 10 lakhs rupees to Rajiv Gandhi Foundation on January 27 to give financial assistance to its charities. Mr. Manmohan Malhoutra, Secretary-General of Rajiv Gandhi Foundation expressed thanks and promised to inform the Chinese Embassy of the utilization of the sum of money for charity.

Rajiv Gandhi Foundation was set up on June 21, 1991 to commemorate Mr. Rajiv Gandhi, the assassinated late Indian Prime Minister. Its chairperson is Mrs. Sonia Gandhi, Chairpersons of Indian National Congress Party and the ruling United Progressive Alliance and widow of Mr. Rajiv Gandhi. Nowadays, the Foundation has branches all over India taking part in universal education and literacy, empowerment of women and children, propagation of health cover facilities in backward regions and helping people with disabilities. It is one of the most influential charity organizations in India.
