China and India Hold the First Drug Control Cooperation Meeting

The National Narcotics Control Commison cum the Narcotics Control Burean of the Ministry of Public Security of China and the Narcotics Control Bureau of the Ministry of Home Affairs of India held the first bilateral meeting on drug control cooperation on 15th January 2005 in New Delhi India. The meeting were held in a cordial and constructive matter.

 

Both the Chinese side and the Indian side expressed the need to further strengthen the interaction between the two countries in the filed of drug control. Both sides exchanged the perception on the drug senario in their respective countries as well as in the region. Specific areas were agreed upon for enhancing bilateral cooperation on issues relating to the trafficking of narcotic durgs, psychotropic substances, precursor chemicals and drug abuse. Mechanisms were set up for prompt exchange of information.

 

It was agreed that the next drug control cooperation meeting would be held in China on mutually convenient dates.
