Chinese Ambassador to India H. E. Sun Weidong Met with Indian Health Secretary Mrs. Preeti Sudan

On February 4, 2020, Chinese Ambassador to India H. E. Sun Weidong met with Mrs. Preeti Sudan, Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of India, to exchange views on pneumonia epidemic caused by the novel coronavirus.

Ambassador Sun introduced China's strong measures and the latest progress in the prevention and control of the epidemic, stressed that these measures not only protect the health of Chinese people, but also the health of people around the world. WHO fully affirms China's efforts in combating the epidemic, and disfavors or even opposes imposing travel or trade restrictions on China. China hopes that India could evaluate the outbreak in an objective and rational manner, and continue to give understanding and support to China's efforts in this regard.

Mrs. Sudan expressed her sympathy to China and Chinese people who suffer from the epidemic, thanked China for the assistance in bringing back Indian citizens from Wuhan, and proposed to enhance communication and coordination between the two countries. Mrs. Sudan expressed her confidence that China would win the battle against the outbreak.

Bai Jie, Science and Technology Counsellor, Chen Binghuang, Consul Counsellor of the Embassy, and Sanjeeva Kumar, Special Secretary, Lav Agarwal, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of India were present at the meeting.
