President Xi Jinping Exchanged Letters with Peruvian President Martín Vizcarra over Cooperation Against COVID-19

President Xi Jinping recently exchanged letters with Peruvian President Martín Vizcarra over the two countries' cooperation against COVID-19.

On behalf of the Chinese government and people, Xi expressed solidarity and condolences once again to the Peruvian government and people over the COVID-19 outbreak in Peru. He noted that at the request of the Peruvian side, China has sent a medical expert team to help the country fight the virus. He also expressed readiness to work with President Vizcarra to strengthen cooperation on COVID-19 response and other fronts, with a view to safeguarding public health security, facilitating an early economic recovery, and delivering concrete outcomes for next year's 50th anniversary of China-Peru diplomatic relations.

President Vizcarra expressed appreciation to the Chinese government for sending a medical expert team to Peru, providing and facilitating procurement of medical supplies, and sharing anti-epidemic experience. He reaffirmed Peru's strong commitment to its comprehensive strategic partnership with China, and expressed confidence that through joint efforts, the two peoples will eventually defeat the virus, and prove once again that the two ancient civilizations are resilient enough to prevail over any trial or disaster.
