On April 10, 2019, Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC Central Committee Yang Jiechi met with Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua of Pakistan in Beijing.

Yang Jiechi noted that China-Pakistan all-weather strategic cooperative partnership has made substantial development since President Xi Jinping's historic visit to Pakistan in 2015. The two sides should well implement the important consensus reached by leaders of the two countries, maintain the momentum of high-level exchanges, expand practical cooperation in various fields and jointly well build the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), so as to bring greater well-being to the two peoples. Under the current situation, both sides should strengthen strategic communication and safeguard regional stability and prosperity.

Tehmina Janjua expressed that Pakistan and China are "iron friends" who have always enjoyed mutual support on issues concerning each other's core interests. Appreciating the Chinese side's constructive role in promoting regional peace and development, the Pakistani side is willing to work with the Chinese side to accelerate the construction of the CPEC and promote the constant and forward-looking development of Pakistan-China all-weather strategic cooperative partnership.
