BEIJING, Nov. 11 (Xinhuanet) -- The Chinese government says it has the confidence and capability to host a distinctive and high-level Olympics. 

    The State Council held a meeting on Wednesday, expressing satisfaction with the preparatory work for the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

    The State Council says China will step-up construction of Olympics stadiums and facilities to ensure all projects are finished on schedule, and will be of a high-quality.

    It promises to strengthen Beijing's infrastructure construction and air pollution control, to create a good environment for the Olympic Games.

    The State Council also vows to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the International Olympic Committee and other international organizations concerned. Enditem
