If your Chinese passport issued before May 1998 is expired and you need the validity beyond the year 2000, it is necessary to obtain a new passport. For the purpose of obtaining a new passport, you are required to submit:
1. filled out forms of application for Chinese passport completely in Chinese. If it is difficult for you to fill out the form in Chinese, you may fill out in English, but your name has to be written in Chinese characters. In this form, you should fill out the column "date of birth" actually with date and month of birth. You are requested to give the exact date of birth out of your own creation if it has never been specified before.
2. three copies of photo in passport photo size;
3. the photocopy of your Certificate of Registration of Foreigners;
4. the photocopy of your Residential Permit which is valid until 2001( you may get a letter either from your regional Chinese organization or from a Chinese well-known to this Embassy to prove your Chinese nationality if you don't have current Residential Permit);
5. your old passport(it will be returned to you together with the new issued passport).

New passport will be issued within one month upon receiving the sufficient documents. The fees for obtaining a new passport are Rs.2600.
If you are holding a passport issued after May 1998(new edition), renewal is possible with a complete application form mentioned above and photocopies of the Certificate of the Registration of Foreigners and the Residential Permit(current registration) . The fees for renewal are Rs 500 (the same amount is charged for each observation endorsed on the passport.)
If you lost your valid passport and apply for a new one, you are required to provide all the documents required to obtain a new passport as mentioned above, together with police record and declaration on the local newspaper as well as renewal fee Rs500.
all the fees above-mentioned should be paid only by demand draft drawn on a national or international bank. They should be made for the exact amount in favor of Chinese Embassy, New Delhi.
Important: The drawer's full name, telephone number and pick up form number should be written on the back of the draft.
