At the invitation of Indian Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, a 6-member Chinese delegation led by Mr. Ma Xiaowei, Chinese Vice Health Minister, visited India from December 15 to 19.
As per the arrangement of Indian Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the delegation made a study of the Prevention of Parent to Child Transmission Program and the Truckers Intervention Project, visited Delhi LRS T.B. Hospital and Agra S.N. Medical College. During their visit, the delegation held talks with officials of Indian National AIDS Control Organization and carried out intensive exchanges and discussions on AIDS-related policies, functions of the government, international organizations and non-governmental organizations, division of work between central and local governments, and measures carried out in the projects of AIDS prevention and controlling.
Mr. Ma Xiaowei met with Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on December 17. The two sides exchanged views on measures and experiences in the prevention and cure of AIDS and T.B., and expressed their hope to strengthen exchanges and cooperation.
