Chinese Ambassador Visited the University of Delhi

On March 21, 2003, Mr. Hua Junduo, Chinese Ambassador to India, paid a visit to the University of Delhi. Dr. Kiran Datar, Dean of Colleges, University of Delhi, and Dr. Sreemati Chakrabarti, head of the Department of East Asia Studies, welcomed Ambassador Hua's presence. Ambassador Hua had a discussion with teachers and students, in which the Ambassador commended the University of Delhi, "a world famous university", on its cultivation of many Indian and foreign talents, as well as its contribution to international cultural exchanges, and he made a point of praising the Department for its role in this regard. According to the Ambassador, the Department of East Asia Studies had trained many talents of Chinese language, making contributions to strengthening mutual understanding between India and China, and he envisaged more exchanges and cooperation between India and China in the field of education in the future. As a friendly gesture, Ambassador Hua presented the Department with a set of computer with Chinese-version operating system, which was expected to facilitate convenience in Chinese study in the Department.

After the discussion, Ambassador Hua and Dr. Kiran Datar were invited to give awards to the winners of the First East Asia Knowledge Contest organized by the Department. Ambassador Hua also visited the language lab and library of the Department.
