Qinghai-Tibet Railway transported 4.36 million passengers

July 1 marks the 4th anniversary of the opening of Qinghai-Tibet Railway together with Train T27/28 from Beijing to Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR), the first train running on the Qinghai-Tibet Railway.

Four years after its inauguration, the railway has transported 4.36 million passengers.

On July 1, 2006, Train T27/28 was put into operation at the highest altitude on earth.

With the distance of 4,064 kilometers between Beijing and Lhasa, it takes 46 hours and a half to finish the trip.

The Qinghai-Tibet Railway covers Beijing, Hebei Province, Henan Province, Shaanxi Province, Gansu Province, Qinghai Province and Tibet Autonomous Region.
