Spokesperson of the Chinese Embassy in India Answers Question Concerning the Reported Anti-Indian Forces' Attempt to Enter Chinese Territory

(2003/12/31)

Question: It is reported that under the attacks of the Royal Bhutanese army, some Indian insurgents may move northward from Bhutan and enter Chinese territory to seek shelter. What is the Chinese Government's position on that?

Spokesperson: China has always followed the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries and will not allow its territory to be used by anybody for activities against other countries. The Chinese side has taken note of the above-mentioned report. It will closely monitor the development of the situation in this regard. We believe that Chinese frontier forces are capable of safeguarding the security and stability of our border areas.
