No restriction to foreigners visiting Tibet

Facts have proved that Chinese authorities have not restricted foreign tourists who are traveling to Tibet during the National Day holiday, which starts on Oct. 1.

With a great number of registered tour groups, some travel agencies are likely to adjust the time to organize tourists to Tibet, in view of the limited reception capacity, said Xu Jianming, manager of the Lhasa Tourism Company.

The move is designed to offer tourists better services, but not to restrict foreign tourists from visiting Tibet, Xu added.

According to Xu, with 36 tour groups registered, including 12 foreign ones, his company's reception of tourist groups this year is expected to exceed the all-time high in 2007.

Statistics show the number of domestic and foreign tourists to Tibet is expected to increase sharply during the eight-day National Day holiday.
